Dr. Steven Psaltis, from the School of Mathematics, Queensland University of Technology, is visting the Oxford battery research group to work on modelling cylindrical, or “jelly roll” lithium-ion cells.
QUT boasts an active battery modelling community, including Profs Troy Farrel, Peter Talbot and Jose Alarco, and leads key research projects associated with the recently announced Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre. It is also home to Australia’s first pilot facility to produce commercial grade lithium-ion batteries.
