Food

The simplest option for lunch is Café Pi, in the Mezzanine (downstairs) of the Mathematical Institute.

Beyond this, there are a number of cafés and delicatessens in the vicinity, concentrated particularly at the North end of Walton Street (West of the Institute) and along Little Clarendon Street (South of the Institute), and there are a variety of good restaurants and pubs scattered around Oxford.

The Gloucester Green market also runs every day from Wednesday, with a variety of street food to be found along the West end of Gloucester Green square.

A few places we can recommend for evening meals:

St. Giles' Fair

On Tuesday, St. Giles' will be occupied by an annual fair. That road (South of the main entrance of the Institute) will be closed to road traffic, and bus routes will be disrupted. Expect noise, crowds, and tacky amusements.

Getting to St. Hilda's

The last day of the conference will be held in St. Hilda's college. The only sensible way to get there by foot or bike from the city centre is to follow High Street across Magdalen Bridge. The best option for buses appears to be to take numbers 1, 5, 5A, or 10 from St. Aldate's (heading North) to The Plain on Cowley Road, and walk from there. These buses leave frequently, and take around 5 minutes, with two stops (on High Street and at Queen's Lane) before The Plain. The walk from The Plain bus stop to the Anniversary Building in St. Hilda's is around 6m.
