Dear Glenys, I the Geometry+NT Group has had a "meeting by email", in which they have approved including Part C Elliptic Curves in 2006/07 (they were sent the message about 2 weeks ago; nobody has disagreed with the proposal, and most sent messages of positive approval). Andrew Dancer says that we can now regard this as having been approved by the group. This means two alterations: Elliptic Curves (lectured by me) to be added to the list, and Roger (rather than me) to lecture Part B Algebraic Number Theory. In summary, the 2006/07 Number Theory provision in Parts A, B and C would be: Part C Analytic Number Theory (16 in MT), lectured by Roger Heath-Brown. Part C Elliptic Curves (16 in HT), lectured by Victor Flynn. Part B Algebraic Number Theory (16 in HT), lectured by Roger Heath-Brown. Part A Number Theory (8 in TT), lectured by Roger Heath-Brown. As you know, I have done a careful summary of people available to tutor and TA next year, and have checked that we also have the resources to cover the tutoring and TA-ing of the associated intercollegiate classes for these lecture courses. For the Part C lecture courses, we prefer the availability to be: Part C Analytic Number Theory: available to both 3rd and 4th year undergraduates (and MFoCS) Part C Elliptic Curves: available to 4th year undergraduates only (and MFoCS) - Victor Flynn
