Admissions
It's part of my job to coordinate the admissions process for Mathematics at Oxford. Broadly speaking, the steps of the admissions process include an admissions test, interviews, and then offer-making. For a more detailed overview, see the central University prospectus. For Maths-specific details, see the departmental prospectus.
Admissions Test
- For information about the admissions test for Maths at Oxford (TMUA), see this page with links to past papers and revision resources.
- Test-takers might also find the resources that we produced for the Mathematics Admissions Test useful. The MAT was a test used for Oxford admissions from 2007 to 2025, and I was in charge of setting and marking from 2018 to 2025.
- In particular, I'm very proud of the Oxford MAT Livestream. I made this as support for the Mathematics Admissions Test, but I hope that it's useful for anyone preparing to apply to university for Mathematics or Computer Science. In 2026, I will run some form of live TMUA support on the Oxford Mathematics Plus channel to replace the MAT livestream.
Interviews
- I host a livestream each year with some discussion of interview questions I've previously used. See this video for the most recent recording.
- I'm on the interviewing team for New College. If you're reading this because I'm interviewing you, hi! Don't worry, I'm not expecting you to learn about my research or anything like that.
Offer-making
- I run the final meeting where tutors at all the Oxford colleges come to finalise their Mathematics offers. The nice thing about Oxford is that every interviewed candidate can be seen by every college, and can potentially be made an offer by any of them. Lots of my work behind the scenes is on processes like this, to make sure that Oxford is taking the best students overall, rather than just the best students who applied to each college.
