CALL for PAPERS - 18th IMA Leslie Fox Prize
The Eighteenth IMA Leslie Fox Prize meeting will take place on Monday June 26th, 2017, in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow G1 1XH, Scotland, just prior to the 27th Biennial Conference on Numerical Analysis.
Entries for the Eighteenth IMA Leslie Fox Prize competition should be submitted by January 31, 2017. Any person who is less than 31 years old on January 1st, 2017 and has not already won a first prize is eligible. Each entry should consist of a paper, describing some of the candidate's research, that is suitable for a 40 minute lecture at a numerical analysis meeting. Whether or not the work has been published or accepted for publication is irrelevant, but no person may submit more than one paper. Candidates from previous competitions are encouraged to enter.
The entries will be considered by an Adjudicating Committee comprising

- Des Higham (University of Strathclyde)
Particular attention will be given to the originality and quality of each paper, and to the suitability of the material for a 40 minute talk to a general audience of numerical analysts. Papers will be selected by the Committee by mid-April 2017, for presentation at the IMA Leslie Fox Prize meeting. Only the papers that are presented at the meeting will be eligible for awards but, subject to this restriction, the Adjudicating Committee may award any number of first and second prizes.
- Entries should be sent electronically as a PDF file to andy.wathen@maths.ox.ac.uk. Entries must be received by January 31st, 2017.
- Each candidate should include a statement of her/his year of birth and should indicate that she/he would be available to present her/his paper at the meeting.
- The prize is normally awarded for a paper with at most one co-author in addition to the candidate. The prize may, exceptionally, be awarded for a paper with three or more authors. In the case of multiply-authored papers, independent evidence must be provided to the committee that a significant part of the work is that of the candidate. In addition to this evidence, such a submission should also be accompanied by a statement from the co-authors agreeing to the submission, and detailing the contributions of each of the authors to the paper.
- Travel funds are not generally available to assist candidates who attend the meeting.
