This is the page for the Oxford Prelims Groups and Group Actions course in the Hilary and Trinity Terms 2018.
In the Hilary Term, lectures will be 0900–1000 on Mondays and 1000–1100 on Wednesdays, all in L1. Lectures start on Monday 12 February and will run for four weeks to Wednesday 7 March. There will be a further four weeks of lectures in Trinity Term (timetable to be announced).
You might also want to check the course materials page. Students who like having printed lecture notes will be pleased to find Richard Earl's lecture notes from 2014 on the course materials page. There are additional resources to supplement the lectures on my blog and the hedgehogmaths YouTube channel.
I recommend working through the Self-Explanation Training for undergraduate mathematics, available freely from Loughborough University. This should take around 20 minutes to work through, and there is research that shows that it is effective.
I am happy to receive comments and suggestions from students taking this course, and from their tutors. Please feel free to get in touch.
