Teaching

I lecture in the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford, where I am also the Faculty Teaching Advisor.

I teach and advise Maths students at Balliol College, Oxford.  The college website has some information about Maths at Balliol.  If you look hard enough, you will find a photo of the Balliol Maths Octopus.

Here are some resources (in no particular order) that my students might find useful.

In Michaelmas Terms 2020 and 2021, I lectured the Prelims course Analysis I.  Three videos from the course are available on YouTube via Oxford Mathematics: one on convergence of sequences, one on monotonic sequences, and one on convergent subsequences.

In Michaelmas Term 2020, I lectured the Prelims course Introduction to Complex Numbers.

In Michaelmas Terms 2018 and 2019, I lectured the Prelims courses Introduction to Complex Numbers and Linear Algebra I.  One lecture from the Complex Numbers course was recorded and is available on YouTube via Oxford Mathematics.

In the Hilary and Trinity Terms 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, I lectured the Prelims course on Groups and Group Actions, with the 2015 course page, 2016 course page, 2017 course page and 2018 course page.  I also lectured the first half of the course in Hilary Term 2020.

In 2020, I completed the Oxford Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, and passed with Distinction. I received a PGCert Prize, for the portfolio with the highest grade in my cohort; this was part of the Vice Chancellor's Education Awards.

In 2021, I was awarded SFHEA, Senior Fellowship of HEA through the Oxford Teaching Recognition Scheme.

I was honoured to be given an MPLS Teaching Award in 2016, and to win the award for Most Acclaimed Lecturer in MPLS in the student-led OUSU Teaching Awards 2015.

I used to lecture in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge. Here are the pages for the courses I gave.

In the Michaelmas Term 2013, I lectured Part II Number Theory.  Here is the page for the course.

In the Lent Term 2013, I lectured Part IA Analysis I.  Here is the page for the course,

In the Easter Term 2012, I lectured a non-examinable course on Waring's Problem.  Here is the page for the course.

In the Michaelmas Term 2011, I lectured Part II Number Theory.  Here is the page for the course.
