Vicky Neale

Hello!  I am the Whitehead Lecturer at the Mathematical Institute and Balliol College at the University of Oxford. I am also a Supernumerary Fellow at Balliol.

My departmental page (with contact details) is here. I am @VickyMaths1729 on Twitter.

I have a page about my teaching.

Part of my role is to discuss mathematics with a broader audience, and I have a page about these activities. I also enjoy mathematical craft of various types. I have written two books, Why Study Mathematics? and Closing the Gap: the quest to understand prime numbers, which are available from all good booksellers! I am the host of the Maths + Cancer podcast.

I used to be a Senior Teaching Associate in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge, and I was also a Fellow and Director of Studies in Mathematics at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge. I did my PhD at Trinity College, Cambridge; my thesis was on Bracket quadratics as asymptotic bases for the natural numbers, and my supervisor was Professor Ben Green. There is more information about this on my Research page. Before starting a PhD, I did Part III of the Mathematical Tripos (doing Number Theory and Combinatorics, mainly). Before that, I was an undergraduate in Cambridge (also at Trinity College).
